Fog

Last Sunday was an extremely foggy day, the entire day was gray and wet. Amazingly for early January, the temperature hovered around upper 50's, a truly rare treat!

In the morning I went for a walk to the Notre Dame campus. It was very quiet, small groups of people here and there walking to the services at the Basilica. Below are several pictures I took on the walk.

A wet path between the campus buildings.

A fat squirrel enquired about some food. I didn't have any.

A path leading to the Golden Dome

And here's the Golden Dome

The geese were here

I didn't even know this sculpture was there...

Cold, it is -3 F this morning, even Meko didn't feel like spending too much time outside.

It has been snowing for the last almost three days, we have nearly two feet of snow on the ground. This afternoon a bit of sunshine came out, enough to feed the birds and  take Meko  for a wintry walk.  I guess  he became a bit cold, because half way through the walk he stopped, looked at me, turned around and started to walk back. Good for him, it was a bit chilly. Below are several pictures from around our house before we went for the walk.

Chicago day trip. Day was cloudy and quite chilly, but we accomplished a lot. First, Thomas got his Polish passport pictures taken at the Victor Photography Studio, next to the Wally's Market in Chicago on Irving Park Road. While there we did quick shopping at the market, but to me the prices seemed much higher than at the Montrose Deli. On the upside they had an addition with alcohols. Good to know where to buy Zywiec, although on this trip we did not buy anything.

The pictures were accepted at the consulate, so he knew exactly what he was doing, most of the pictures other people presented were rejected. We paid $19 for four pictures, actually $19.70, because I used credit card.

While Thomas and I were waiting in the line, Monika got her brand new and shiny Polish Passport. Great, at least her troubles are over.

Thomas had to re-write his application with names Thomas Andrew instead of Tomasz Andrzej, all the paperwork got accepted, and all we need to do now is wait six months or more for the official notification from the consulate once the passport is here.

After the grueling three hours + wait at the consulate we visited Ciocia Ela and Monika. I installed Firefox on Ela's computer and set up iGoogle, Gmail and Picasa accounts. It should be easier now not only to surf but also to organize and share pictures. Cool!

Christmas came and went, but it was very pleasant with Ela and Monika. Yesterday the weather was just perfect, no wind. sunny, mid-forties. In the early afternoon Mariola, Ela, Monika, Meko and I went for a walk, we made a big loop through Quail Ridge South neighborhood, it was just perfect:

Afterwards we put chairs on the deck and enjoyed hot coffee in the rare December sunshine. Beautiful.
